I placed an online order with what I consider a reputable vendor. When I clicked on the box to type in my email address there were a number of email addresses that are not mine. (I'm the only one that uses this computer)
I’m not sure whether someone online has accessed my computer or where these addresses came from.
Where are these addresses located on my hard drive? I want to delete them. Thanks, George

For anyone to attempt this properly they will need to know which email client you are using and whether is is some sort of drop-down box.
A registry search might unearth them.

Thanks for your reply.
By email client if you mean the program which I use to read email it is Outlook Express.
I searched the registry for the email addresses that were not mine and did not find any of them in the registery.
I was renewing the yearly subscription to a software program and when it asked for my email address I clicked on the drop down box and saw all these other email addresses.
Always before when I clicked on a drop down box only my email address would be shown.
I'm wondering if these other address are on the vendors web site rather than on my computer.
Again, thanks for your help.
George

It sounds like 'autocompletion' (with a hint of paranoia)
... the interests and rights of some individuals take precedence over the interests and rights of others

I think that might well be on the website. I'm using OE and don't know of a drop down box with email address in that package.
Can you get to this box from OE when offline? If so exactly what are the steps you take to get to it?
The only autocomplete I am aware of when using IE & OE is in Internet Explorer rather than Outlook Express. This can of-course be cleared or stopped but I don't somehow think that's what you mean.
DerekW

I was using Firefox when I saw all the email addresses in the drop down box. Tried it on Internet Explorer and they did not appear.
So, it probably is on the web site rather than on my computer.
Actually more than a hint of parnoia: Couple of months ago I had some large charges on my Credit Card that were not mine. Took some time that would have been better spent else where to get them removed.
George

I'm none too familiar with Firefox but maybe that has some autocomplete feature than can be cleared or disabled (as does IE).
DerekW

"Have a look in your Address Book."
Good suggestion, that's where they come from.
Now to see if I can do something with FireFox to delete these with auto complete.
Thanks,
George

Couldn't find #9/10 in my IE6 SP1 Privacy tab (or corresponding OE) so perhaps they are features of IE7.
DerekW

It was a response to number 8.
