United iSystem Software

Specs: Windows 7
I was reading an on-line newspaper using Internet Exploer 8 when suddenly I was warned that my system was infected with seven viruses! If I wanted to get rid of them I would need to pay for their software. I have adequate protection already. I had one hell of a tiime trying to get rid of it. Finally, completely frustrated, I had to restore my computer to a prior date.
Soething should be done about "United iSystem Software" whoever they are!!!

Welcome to the world of ransomware - there are loads of similar programs out there, usually hosted in countries with fewer rules about what they can get away with. You were fortunate that System Restore worked - make sure you check your computer to get rid of any more remains - in Program Files for a start, then run CCleaner which will hopefully remove the couple of registry entries.

If you are certain the attack came from a particular website then it may be worth contacting their web department and telling them that one of the links on their page may have been hijacked.
