I want to uninstall avg security bought 2010 & download another security system, I cannot just uninstall it in program & avg site suggests loading the latest installation save to desktop then REBOOT computer. Get file back, launch the installation & choose uninstall product option in the Select Set Up Type Dialogue. Says to finish installation & restart computer. How do I reboot??? Any suggestions before I go crazy??? Thanks, daisy

Reboot simply means power off your computer then power it on again (not to be confused with reformat or restore). The usual reason AV's do not uninstall is because they are still running when you attempt it. You must always disable them (if possible so that they don't work on restart) before attempting an uninstall.

I downloaded the remover and it has definitely removed it from my start up program so thanks a lot. The computer is running very slowly now & I'm wondering if I have removed it all. I have a friend over for Christmas who is a whiz at all this so I'll get him to check. Thank you for taking time to answer, it's good to know there is help on this site. Sometimes these issues need a bit of "hands-on" because there can be something or other that one sees that gives a clue about what needs to be done.
