|Noton is one of the worst IMO. What you can do, is use the uninstaller from the norton website to clean out all the registry values and then try re-installing it.|
That may work for you. If you just use the add/remove, it will leave the bad registry values in your registry.
You may want to consider using a better AV like Avast or AVG, free, but much better than Norton.
