unable to open icons on desktop

Specs: Windows Vista
everytime i open a icon on my desktop i get a pop us asking me what program i want to use to open this file. and then i can't open it.

For example: You cannot open Adobe photoshop use your shortcut on desktop right! Delete your shortcut on your desktop first, then go to the C:\Program Files\Adobe
1. find the adobe photoshop.exe ".exe" file.
2. Right Click on it and send shortcut to desktop. You can run it.

If not or other way,

1. Right click on the icon cannot use
2. Go properties > Find Target > Choose the exe file and Click on.

Try again please!

Rather than fiddle about with individual programs (as per #2), go here:

Download and the exe fix. Extract the file from the zip then double click the reg file
OK all the prompts and let it make the necessary registry changes. With luck that will fix your issues.
