Unable to open google or yahoo search

August 8, 2010 at 22:51:34
Specs: Windows Vista

I've been having multiple issues with my computer...viruses that I thought were fixed. I've run maleware and trendmicro and thought everything was fixed, but still having prolbems. Now I cannot go to google or yahoo to search...it will not open the page. It says IE cannot display the webpage. Before this, I was having a problem trying to search...it would take me to a different page instead.

I'm also having trouble with new pages opening while I'm on Internet Explorer. I will be reading an article and all of a sudden a new page opens telling me I've won something.

Also, my task manager is gone. When I do control alt delete it is not there anymore.

One last thing, system restore is not working either. Other than that, my computer is working fine LOL!

I'm not too computer savy, so I'm hoping someone can help me out! I would appreciate any information you can provide!

I would ignore response 1

Some viruses and spyware will cause your connection to fail.
Open IE and then click on tools/internet options/connections/Lan settings and uncheck proxy server if it has a checkmark.
Close IE and then re-open it and see if you can get online.
Once online
1- Trojan Remover
http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/d...
2- Hitman Pro
http://www.surfright.nl/en/downloads/
Run them both till they are clean and then uninstall them in programs using their own uninstaller.

Thanks for your responses. I really appreciate it. Well, I've run both of these (trojan remover and Hitman Pro) and my task manager is back now. I haven't had any sites popping up telling me I've won a prize yet, thank goodness. It did find and repair alot of problems. However, I'm still not able to open google or yahoo search. It still says Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Any more ideas on what I can do? Thanks in advance! I am running windows...not a new computer...I do have a wifi connection.
