Subject: Unable to forward Email AttachmentsOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: ?Model/Manufacturer: HP |
Comment: I have DSL ATT/Yahoo When I receive emails with internet attachments, I have no problem opening them. But when I forward the email with the attachment to anyone else, the word "Remove" appears next to the internet attachment and the Norton Antivirus appears on the opposite side. I've called ATT and they tried but could not find a solution. They had me remove Firefox but that did nothing to change the situation. I searched for Norton Antivirus in my computer and I don't have it. Yahoo might use Norton for their email. I don't know. What can I do?

Reply: (edit)We will need to runs a few scans to find the problem. Please download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2: Download the "HijackThis" Installer from this link: Hijack This 1. Save " HJTInstall.exe" to your desktop. 2. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program. 3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis. 4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button. 5.Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log. 6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad. 7. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log. 8. Paste the log in your next reply. 9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Reply: (edit)Helpme, if you see the attachment when you are forwarding an email, don't click on remove, it will send the attachment, I know because I use Yahoo all the time. They just put that on there in case you want to remove the attachment when sending...no biggie...all is well. Norton is just the scanner built into yahoo mail. It is not installed on your computer. Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!

Reply: (edit)Right. Normal Behavior. Did you try and forward something and it failed, or are you just guessing that you can't forward attachments? Just an FYI, next time you might be a little more specific than "Internet attachments." :) Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I'm going to try all today as soon as I receive a downloaded link to my mail and forward it on to someone else. I'll call them and see if they could open the link. If they can't, I have Trend Micro as an antivirus so I can run a scan and save the log. I'll let you know if the forwarding works. Thanks again. What I receive are downloaded jokes or links from old co-workers which I try to forward to others.

Reply: (edit)I've tested it a number of times now and it works. Yahoo keeps putting "remove" on the attachment but others can open it. Thanks a lot for your help.

Reply: (edit)The Remove option is there for you (the sender)! If you want to forward the email and not the attachment, then you click on the "Remove" so that the attachment isn't forwarded. Life's more painless for the brainless.
