Hey Guys, I'm new to the forums and I would like to get some help. I got a virus two days ago and it made me download XP_Antivirus 2008. This just so happened to be a trojan downloader and really messed up my system. I managed to get rid of it and I believe I cleaned up all the viruses it had downloaded to my computer. But now I'm not too sure. I seem to not be able to update my antivirus (AVG Antivirus Free & Avast!) And in addition, I cannot access any sites that have to do with antiviruses or antispyware. (Norton.com, Avast.com, AVG.com etc.) It is really bothering me, and it is also slowing my internet browsing. (By the way, I can access all other sites) Could someone give me a hand?
Thanks in advance

Download SDFix.exe and save it to your Desktop.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with SDFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on This Link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
Remember to re-enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the Internet.1.Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.
2. Open the c:\SDFix folder and double click RunThis.cmd to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
3. Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
4. Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt

Well, i followed all the instructions. But I'm not sure if my antivirus was disabled, because I had to reboot twice to get it into safemode. If I must redo the scan, please inform me. But I got this from the Report:

Hey, I was checking things out. Everything seems to be running smoothly. I have successfully updated my antivirus (finally!) and the websites all are working fine. I thank you so much for your help, especially how fast it was. If you find any problems in the Report, please notify me.
Once again, I thank you whole heartly for your help, you're a savior.

I know your computer is better but we have some things to do yet or you will get reinfected.
Please download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2:
Download the "HijackThis" Installer from this link:
Hijack This
1. Save " HJTInstall.exe" to your desktop.
2. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
5.Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
7. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
8. Paste the log in your next reply.
9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Alright, I have done all of that. Here is the report:

First of all you are running two antivirus programs and they will conflict and cause you many problems. You need to decide which one you like best and uninstall the other via add/remove programs.
Your java is out of date and may have been exploited, probably the port of entry for the baddie.
.
Download the latest version of java from this link Java
Click on the JRE 6 Update 7 download button.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the "coffee cup" icon next to it.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version. Please download ComboFix to the desktop from one of the following links:
Combofix is a powerful tool so follow the instructions exactly or you could damage your computer.
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with Combofix and remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Click on This Link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.In your case to run Combofix do the following:
1. Go offline turn off your AVG/Avast antivirus, Windows Defender and any other antispyware that you may have.
2. Run Combofix and save its log.
3. Restart the computer to get the antivirus running again but leave the antispyware programs off until we get the computer cleaned.
4. Post the Combofix log.
Remember to re-enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the Internet.
Double-click combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
(Don't click on the window while the program is running or move the mouse, it will cause your system to hang.)
Please post the log it produces and a new Hijack This log.

Alright, All done. I've even uninstalled the other antivirus.

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Alright, SDFix was run once again, here are the results:

Drea and Jabuck - I've been following this post for last couple days because I've had the identical problem. I was able to follow instructions through SDFix and Hijack This but I'm nervous about continuing on in case my scenario is different. I'll post my Hijack This log first and then my most recent SDFix log in second post.
Thank you for your incredible help Jabuck!!!Hijack This:

Julie, please start a thread of your own and we will try to help. Do not post any logs until a helper ask you to, just state the problem and what you have done so far.

You computer appears to be clean, only items found were in SDFix's quarantine folder.
Go to start> run> type in combofix /u (note the space after combofix) then press enter> click run. This will uninstall combofix so give a minute or two to uninstall.
Go to and delete this folder:
C:\SDFix
Go to start> control panel> add/remove programs and uninstall Hijack This and Eset if found.
You should keep Malwarebytes and AFT Cleaner and use them weekly but if you don't want them uninstall Makwarebytes as you uninstall Hijack This. Then delete AFT Cleaner by deleting the desktop icon.
How is the computer operating?

The computer seems to be operating fine, if not a little slow at times. But I did find something peculiar. My windows defender found a trojan downloader the other day, so I clicked to remove it. (This was after the cleanup, I believe. Though I could be wrong.) As well, my Avast! Antivirus keeps giving me a popup that says it had blocked "DCOM EXPLOIT" (Then it gives a port number, which is always the same) an attack. But everything else seems to be running great.
Thank You So Much!

Sounds as though your Avast av prevented something from entering your computer. The trojon found may have been the SDFix folder contents.
If you have any further incedents let us know.
You should consider adding "Spywareblaster" to your arsenol of antispyware tools, you can download it from this link Spywareblaster
Just download it,install it, and update it. Its free and runs in the background, so you don't actually run it, and re-writes malicious script before it can install on your computer. Look for updates weekly as there is no auto-update on the free version.

I see. Oh, I'll definately download that. Thanks so much for all your help, you're incredible.

I am having the same problem Drea had, however when I try to access the program SDFIX.exe, my computer will not allow me to download it. I also tried to get to the program through other sites and like trying to get to mcafee.com, it says the page cannot be displayed. I cannot get to many forums because it blocks me. I am running Windows XP, SP3. Any help you can provide would be appriciated. Thanks.
