Got bad spyware - all sites are trusted sites when I use IE. And now Spybot runs so slow that it's useless. When the scan finally finishes, it identifies some spyware which can be removed, but says there was an error with the scan & the rest of the message is in German. Hijack This finds nothing useful. Adaware likewise. Arrrgggghhhhhhh. Any help appreciated.

For the 'trusted sites' sites problem, use regedit (start>run, type in regedit and visit each of the following keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSetting s\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults\http HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSetting s\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults\http Your value is probably currently set to '2'. Change it to '3', by double clicking on it and editing. For Spybot, try updating your definitions. Fot a HijackThis analysis, try posting it to SpywareWarrior.com. They're very experienced there in dealing with these kinds of issues.

Same for Adaware, make sure you have Adaware Personal SE build 1.05.
