Hello Vince,
A computer running slow is most of the time the result of your RAM memory corrupted by programs running all together, it can be also the spreads of cookies spywares polluting your RAM.
Download and try the two following freeware programs:
1)AdAware 6.0/181
2)SpywareBlaster 2.61 Don't forget to update them as soon as installed....
That should fix your problem....

Make sure you're using Ad-aware Build 6.181 (look in the lower right hand corner of the AAW screen).
This link will show you how to update your Ad-aware ref files.
This link will show you how to run a full scan. Make sure when you click on "scan now" that "custom" scan is checked, not "smart" scan.

Please excuse the double post but I couldn't edit my post above.
Vince - You have Hijackthis in a temporary folder. If, for some reason, you need to restore something that you fixed with Hijackthis, the backups will be created but will be erased after one reboot (after the "fixing") or the backup feature won't function at all, causing HijackThis to JUST fix the entries. Before you try to fix anything with HJT, you need to redownload HJT somewhere other than a temporary folder - usually C:\. After running a full AAW scan, please post your new HJT logfile (after redownloading HJT to another location). Good luck!

I have the same issue with a p/c running slow. Packard Bell 333MHz win98 OS. System is 6 years old. For several years AOL has been in operation (56k service). Three weeks ago a self install was done switching to sbc-dsl. The fellow who done the install now says everything is super slow. Even basic programs are slow. Especially when he use's his excel program for our church. It sounds to me his system resources are ate up some way, but I do not know whats the best thing to do, other than a complete format, and starting clean.... He also has printing problems that has started.. Reinstalled. worked fine for several weeks, now its screwing up again.. He lives a good distance from me. Any ideas or shared thoughts would appreciated.. Thank you
