trouble shooting user account control on a Lenovo y 500

February 21, 2014 at 19:02:15
Specs: Windows 8
while on a Ford web site the Mcafee virus detector popped up and i tried to click the small x in the top right corner but nothing happened so i tried escape, control alt delete but i can't exit the screen . I can cut the laptop off by the on off switch but when the windows tiles appear the computer freezes and a pop up appears with these words" user account control is off, turn user account control on. Is this something I can do or should I leave it to the experts and i have to pay for this service how much should I expect to pay

"Is this something I can do"
Lets have a go, it is going to depend on you, usually it is fixable.

Lets see what is going on.

Download OTL, save & run from your Desktop.
Double click the OTL icon to start the tool. (Note: If you are running on Vista or Windows 7 accept UAC alert)
1: When the window appears, underneath Output at the top, make sure Standard output is selected.
2: Select Scan all users
3: Change Drivers to All
4: Under the Extra Registry section, check Use SafeList
5: In the lower right corner, checkmark "LOP Check" and checkmark "Purity Check".
6: Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted.
Screenshots ( SS ) of 1 - 6
When the scan is complete, two text files will be created on your Desktop
OTL.Txt <- this one will be opened
Extras.txt <- this one will be minimized

Upload the logs using this. I upload to for images & for files ( neither need an account ) Give us the links please.
