ad-aware and MS Antispyware are other good free programs.

You need to use all of those programs to keep your computer running smooth.

Here is a tutorial site that might explain what programs you can use to keep your computer clean and tell how to use them.

HijackThis is a program that shows all your running processes. You can use auto-analyzers to check it's logs and (hopefully) eliminate problems. It is often used as a last resort because of the problem of dealing with long logs.

Spyware can be as bad if not worse than a virus.

Here's another freebie that might come in useful (mainly a trojan finder/fixer):
A2FREE - JUST DOWN PAGE

When you are all sorted out download SpywareBlaster. This uses no resources at all but keeps malware out (rather than fixing it when it has taken hold).

It's your worst nightmare, or can be, esp if you have personal and $ data on your PC. Whole identities have been stolen as a result.
Be cautious.

I ran across this post today from an email that I get and thought this might explain the spyware and adware stuff really clearly for you. This is a great site. I have been a member with this site for over 4 years now.
