I keep getting the same Virus. Trojan Vundo, neither my Norton nor McAfee will automatically delete it. I have found where it is in my system, but I can't just delete it because it is attached to awstr.dll, my question is, is that needed or can I just delete that all together. Also, if I delete that will it get rid of the virus? If you know how to get rid of this virus PLEASE tell me.

I have CW Shredder, Spybot, Ad-Aware, Pest PAtrol, Counterspy all on my computer. My firewall is always up on medium. I have windows XP and its all up to date. I am sitting here on my laptop trying to figure out how to fix my desktop.

I see that the .dll was created on 11/08/05 where the other .dll were all created when i bought the computer on 1/20/04, is it something I can just delete( the .dll) and it will delete the virus? Or do I need it for my computer!

Thanks in advance!

There is a similar post HERE. You should run VirtuMundo removal tools and delete the awstr.dll file. It actually belongs to the parasite and is not a part of your system.

I had Trojan.Vundo and didn't have success with Norton's removal tool despite following lots of advice to make it work found on this site. The Trojan.Vundo removal tool failed repeatedly. However, an application called Webroot Spysweeper, which I downloaded with a free 14-day trial, was able to clean up the computer and remove the .dll file. Incidentally, it also removed a bunch of other adware that Norton Internet Security 2005 had failed to identify.
