Hey people,

The other day AVG was reporting that I had a Trojan (Backdoor drop) located in the System Volume Information_restore file, and that I should run a fully system scan to remove it. However, when I did the scan it came back negative – reporting that there were no viruses (or Trojans) on my computer. The same is true with two separate Trojan hunters.

After exploring this here site for a while, I read a post where it said that if I disable the system restore option in the Control Panel tab, reboot and then enable it again, that should kill it off.

As this was such a [CENSORED] ;) of a Trojan, allowing other Trojans to be downloaded to my computer, I ask for clarification if this would have killed it off? Doing so seemed to have erased the file that was in the System Volume Information and replaced it with a new one. Is it gone? Killed? OBLITERATED?

Yours with thanks,

Richard

It should kill the trojan .. however it wouldn't hurt to do an online scan.
