I just recently found out that I have a trojan horse virus and I was wondering how you get rid of it? I use avast anti-virus but for some reason i can not open this program anymore. I have a feeling that Norton may be blocking me from opening the avast program. But right now I just want to get rid of the trojan horse.
thank you.

First of all, you cannot run 2 different anti virus programs at the same time.
If you are using avast and you HAD Norton installed but you uninstalled Norton, make sure to go to the Norton site and get the Norton removal tool, or Avast will NOT run correctly. Not being a Norton fan for many reasons, IMO I would uninstall Norton and just use Avast.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I have uninstalled Norton antivirus and used Avast to scan my computer. It showed that my computer is infact infected. So it told me to move it to the chest which is what I did. But I scanned it again, and it still showed that my computer was infected. I did the same thing and moved it to the chest, but there were some trojan horse that would not let me move it to the chest so i chose the delete option. I still have a feeling that this virus is still on my computer. Is there another way to remove it? thanks.

did you use the norton removal tool?

Download the version for your PC and run it if you haven't done so yet then post back.Sounds to me like the trojan may be in your system restore because it keeps coming back. Avast should tell you where the trojan is located before you move or delete it.

you aren't answering the questions. It will help if you do:
did you use the norton removal tool?
Where is the trojan located when you do the avast scan....it will tell you.
Please post back on those thingsHopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Sorry..
I did use the norton removal tool. (thank you for the link. )
I have provided a picture of the location of where the trojan is located.
Also, I redid a scan from avast, and it says that my system is clear. But I'm still not sure that it really is.

Ok, thanks for the extra info.
I did see that some of the earlier infections were in the system restore, so if you'd like you can http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405
turn off system restore, rescan with Avast and if there are no more problems turn system restore back on, I would say that things will be fine. If you are still doubtfull, you can always do a free online scan with bitdefender as it gives the user a chance to remove the findings instead of having you buy the program like others often do. More of a sales pitch. Pandascan is bad for that as well as a few othersHopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
