First try running the antivirus from Safe Mode Then download these three programs, update them, and run them from safe mode :

cwshredder (the stand alone version)

Adaware SE

Spybot

If thay didn't work you will most likely need to post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the trojan can be identified. You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.

Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor.

Do not fix anthing yet. Let someone review your log.

also in safe mode,
also try emptying temp folder,
emptying temporary internet files folder,
run virus scan as well as adaware scan,
check msconfig for any related files and disable,
try toolbarcop, and remove BHO plugins related to trojan,
check control panels> add/remove for anthing related,
delete all cookies, history,
using regedit, search for any related file as well,
...:)

hi angie,
lets try this angie,
make sure you have no hidden files,
then:
lets do a search of your windows system directory, see if you can find this file: qtxg.dll
you will find it in your windows directory C:\WINDOWS\System32\qtxg.dll or C:\windows\system\qtxg.dll
if found then you will have to do this first:
disable your system restore, this will flush out your restore folder of any and all malware,

then get your latest defs for all your anti virus, trojan adaware, spybot etc.

then go into safe mode
once there hit the start button go to run, type in the word regedit, then do a search for the entry qtxg.dll,
if found delete the entry by right clicking on the entry and hit the delete button. this will delete the dll.
get out of regedit.
then do a scan with your arsenal and delete any and all files they come up with.
next clean your machine by doing the following:
empty out your .tmp folder, temporary internet files, cookie folder, recent folder, and clean out your recycle bin
this may not be enough as the dll may have to be unregistered, it may come back again, so you will have to unregister it.
you can do this by first:
stopping or disabling all web services
check your task list to see if its there and kill it.
then typing in the word "command" in your run box
when the prompt box opens up, type in regsvr32 /u file.dll (where u file is the "qtxg.dll")
this will unregister the dll and it will not come back
reboot into normal mode
do a search again for the file qtxg.dll if found delete it.
re enable your system restore and be carefull, make sure you have a good free firewall and a good anti-trojan such as boclean or trojan hunter.
you can get a free 30 day trial of trojan hunter by going to www.thepublicworks.com and linking up to trojan hunter.
you may also find more info on this trojan by linking up to simovits consulting while at the public works, in the security section.
hope this helps, all the best,
murve

hi angie,
i goofed on the unregistering the dll,
correct this sentence:
"then typing in the word "command" in your run box
when the prompt box opens up, type in regsvr32 /u file.dll (where u file is the "qtxg.dll")

it should have read:
when you see the run box just type in the following:
regsvr32 /u file.dll (where u file is the "qtxg.dll") then hit the OK button
sorry, its late.
all the best,
murve
