I have AVG and I ran a virus scan and found I had 3 viruses. Trojan horse Downloader.Keenval.B Trojan horse Downloader.Keenval.C Trojan horse Downloader.Keenval.E. After it found them I had it heal all three of them. It seemed better. Then I got a box popping up saying I still had ......B. I reran AVG and it said there were no viruses. It keeps popping up, and I tried to run AVG in safe mode, but it won't let me. I absolutely refuse to redo my intire computer over again. What can I do to get rid of this STUPID virus? It now says the virus is in C:\System Volume Information\_restore {2E9DCF39-6F73-409D-8C36-24193BEF-49E3}\RP91\A0007061.exe But I cannot find it to delete it. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

ky_monkey, To get rid of that Trojan file turn off System Restore and restart your computer then run another virus scan and it should come up clean. AV programs can't remove virus/virus infected files from System Restore. Don't forget to turn on System Restore again after you do the above.

Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore

Tufenuf, Thanks for the help. I did what you said, and so far no virus. We'll see what happens. I ran AVG and again it didn't detect anything, but I'll see if I get another popup from AVG or not telling me it's there when scanning doesn't. Wish me luck. And again THANKS.

I think the AVG either has the virus or gives the illusion of having a virus. My Symantec program did not detect any viruses, but on the advice of a computer expert I installed and ran AVG as he said it could detect a virus that could fool symantec. Sure enough it "found" 3 Downloader.Keenval viruses, said it healed 2 and couldn't fix the "E" version. I did what this site said to do to get rid of it and couldn't and tried what 2 other sites said to do to get rid of it. I still couldn't get rid of it. Symantec couldn't find a virus when I specifically scanned my common files. I watched file by file as AVG scanned the common files and guess what the virus alert appeared when AVG was scanning its own file and no alert came on when it scanned updmgr.
I deleted/trashed/got totally rid of any trace of AVG and no problems or virus alerts when I scanned with symantec and additionally the free version of housecall.antivirus.com
I sure hope this "virus" is not a ploy by the AVG people to get you to purchase their upgraded version that comes with tech support. I wasted too much time because of these people. I am no computer expert, but this seems too coincidental and specifically related to AVG. Beware!
