I also have AVG and about a week ago, it showed I have trojan horse downloader.Rameh.A
It is attached to 5 of my warner backup files and says it cannot be healed nor can the files be quarentened in the vault being as they are nessesary files.
I do not know how to get rid of it. I do know the virus will download malicious programs onto your computer

Tammy, I understand that you have downloader.rameh.a, but I am not quite sure why the context of your "original message" is so odd i.e. "I also...." as if you are responding to something? I am not being judgemental, I just want to make sure that I didn't miss anything. At any rate, Tammy I was able to solve my problems searching google for "downloader.revop.a" and "downloader.rameh.a" which in turn directed me to some older (and quite informational) computing.net threads. Best of luck.

Sorry about the confusion of how this started out: "I also have..."
I started out going to respond to someone, and was not registered with computing net, so I copied what I had typed out. Then when I got registered, I saw where I could post my comments or situation, and without thinking, I pasted what I had intended to be a response.
Anyway, I have the trojan horse downloader, and need to get rid of it.

Hi Tammy have you been able to solve your problem? I wondered as I have a Trojan Downloader.dyfica virus and hoped someone had come up with a solution to this.

HALLELUJAH! Trojan horse downloader Rameh.A is gone. I could not remove the infected files before due to the fact Warner program was running. I clicked alt, control, delete and then enter and disabled warner. Then I went into the warner backup files under run, and deleted the 5 infected files. Then I emptied the trash ben of these infected files, shut down the computer, restarted, and did the avg scan again. The virus is gone. Have also been going through search and find and going through different files, I found and deleted several spys, and other files that should not have been there but were brought in through share ware and so on. I am hoping to get them all. Thank you for your responses.

Tammy

Mewdar in response to you having the Trojan downloader Dyfica virus.. the following steps got rid of that particular virus from my computer: Go to My computer, control panel,System,Performance,File system, troubleshooting;then click 'Disable Restore System'.Then restart computer from scratch(as directed).Run latest AVG version 6.0 Anti-Virus software. This will now be able to pick out the Dyfica virus &heal it.Also run 'Ad-aware'version 6.0.This will seek out all files related to 'Dyfica B'.
Now turn back on 'System Restore'.Restart computer.
ONE WORD OF WARNING! BY disabling the 'system restore' it loses its previous restore dates. It begins from the time that you restarted the computer.
On restart run both programmes again. There should be no 'Dyfica'files,if there are repeat the procedure.
I hope this helps

Tas
