Comment:

I have a virus that I can't get rid of. It is called trojan factory, or is in a file under system32\officescan.exe. I have tried to delete the file but comes back with a run time error 15. This is causing pop ups saying that I have spyware and constantly taking me to a web site with anitspyware. Please help!

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified.

Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

The Hijack This log is a view if most of your running process and much more.

Looks like clean-up is mostly what you need with one bad file to remove.

You are running two antivirus programs and they will conflict, you should decide which one you want to keep and uninstall the other.

Please download ATF-Cleaner to your desktop from this link
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/19/2/ We will need it later in safe mode

Download and install Ewido Security Suite We will need this later in safe mode

Be sure to update Ewido

Download killbox to your desktop from this link Killbox We will need it later in safe mode

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;

Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".

Choose your usual account.

Run Hijack This from safe mode, close all windows except Hijack This, place a check to the left of the following items and press "fix checked":

O2 - BHO: office_pnl.office_panel - {B53455DB-5527-4041-AC41-F86E6947AA47} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\office_pnl.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com If you did not put this in the trusted zone remove it

O16 - DPF: {85D1F3B2-2A21-11D7-97B9-0010DC2A6243} (SecureLogin class) - http://secure2.comned.com/signuptemplates/securelogin-devel.cab

Exit Hijack This but remain in safe mode

Run Killbox from safe mode. Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\office_pnl.dll

Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
Continue with that procedure until you have pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

Run Ewido from safe mode and let it delete all that it finds.

Run ATF-Cleaner from safe mode.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot to normal mode.

Empty the restore folder. Go to start>control panel>system>system restore tab>check the box beside "turn off system restore>apply (takes a minute)>ok. Go back and uncheck the box to turn system restore back on>apply>ok.

I've got the exact same problem.
"I have a virus that I can't get rid of. It is called trojan factory, or is in a file under system32\officescan.exe. I have tried to delete the file but comes back with a run time error 15. This is causing pop ups saying that I have spyware and constantly taking me to a web site with anitspyware. Please help!"

It's made by "Trojan Factory" & though I seem to have gotten rid of the system32\officescan.exe file, there's one called upwebmin.exe that seems to be the problem & can't be deleted. It renders Task Manager unusable. AdAware doesn't eliminate it, nor do several others I've tried.
The website it takes you to is "Antispynet.com" - obviously a fake site, it will take your money but has no links or data other than a mailto.
Rankin, I'm anxious to hear if the "cure" worked for you.
