AVG found this Dialer.11.aw, but can't heal, delete, or quarantine it. Trogan scan does't recognize it. Either does Housecall or PandaScan. AVG says it's in
c:\explorer.cab\explorer.exe..Any ideas how to eliminate this pesky critter? Thanks

Usually if AVG cant heal or quarantine it,then it's in a system restore point and they cant be altered, they have to be deleted,
In control panel click on system then system restore tab and put a tick in the turn off system restore then apply and ok then update AVG and do a full scan if that don't work check or ask here http://gappa2.grisoft.cz/freeforum/

Dont forget to turn system restore back on after

If I dont know, somebody will.
If any advice helps, please post back as it might help others.

Is the file listed as "in use"? If it is you have to enter the safe mode during startup and ran AVG's scan while in it. If your operating system is ME or XP you will need to turn off system restore first, then restart and enter the safe mode.

AVG says the dialer is in
c:\explorer.cab\explorer.exe and not the temp\restore . I really hate to lose the system restore points. In fact,I just ran AVG in safe mode and it healed 2 other trojans the were in the temp\restore area, but it only found the .11.aw trojan, but did nothing about it. Any other ideas? When I ran the scan in safe mode, I did NOT turn off system restore. Just hate to lose that back-up at a time like this..

If you are using an old version of AVG you may have problems. Make sure you are using a fully updated version 7.0. I easily quarantined and removed it with the new version, but the old 6.0 gave me fits.
