My Norton antivirus 2002, which has been kept fully up to date, identified the Trojan ByteVerify virus on my computer, running Windows 98. However it could only delete one of five files found - for the other four it said "delete failed". I went to the Symantec page which suggested running the Norton scan in safe mode - however this would not work, it kept coming up with error messages and refused to run. I also went to the Windows 98 website, but it did not find any critical updates. I ran Adaware, Spybot and Spy Ferret which all did not find this item. I then ran CW Shredder, which said my system was completely clean - but I was unable to update CWS because its site looks to be down. As far as I can see the virus is not actually causing any problems - I didn't know it was there until Norton spotted it in a system scan, and I have a firewall so hopefully it shouldn't be able to do too much. Any suggestions to get rid of it completely? Judy
