Hello Everyone,
Upon doing a scan with AdAware today two registry entries were found - Win32.TrojanDownloader.Agent.De
Win32.TrojanDownloader.Agent.De (1)
I had AdAware remove both entries then ran a Housecall Virus scan which found: TROJ_AGENT.GC (1) found Temporary Internet Folder
TROJ_AGENT.GC (2) found in WINDOWS\DownloadedProgramFiles\MiniclipGameLoader.dll
I was unable to clean them from my system with Housecall because I don't have some kind of Code, so I searched for them and removed them manually.
I ran another Housecall scan and a message came up telling me that nothing was found to be infecting my system this time.
My question is: Should I disable System Restore now before I restart my computer again? Or should I consider myself safe/that the nasties are gone?
(I do have AVG v7 and the virus definitions are up to date - so I have no idea why it did not detect these viruses as Housecall & AdAware did.)
Any suggestions would be appreciated :) Thanks,
Jodie

I would empty the temp internet files and off line content ones and turn off system restore and restart the computer. During the restart enter the safe mode and run AVG's scan. If the system is clean restart and turn system restore back on if you like using it. Be careful about what games and other programs you install, as buried in the license that you approve can be tons of spyware/malware that caused your problem.

Thank you for your response Capt :)

I had no idea that AVG ranked so low!!! I am quite surprised since it is so widely recommended here at Computing.net!

I did empty the temporary internet folder as well as all offline content - just haven't dumped system restore contents....
In the past, Housecall has found viruses stored in the restore folder before - so I'm not sure I need to?

Can't be any harm doing it anyway since I was unable to restore to dates before yesterday....

Anyway, thanks a million :) I will check out the top antivirus products that you mentioned in your post.
Cheers,
Jodie
