Help! I can't seem to remove this from my machine. I remove gator.com from the registry, but it keeps coming back. Any suggestions?

Search for fsg.exe,fsg-ag.exe and delete the crap.Then;

Open regedit and go to;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (and runonce)
and delete any instances of fsg.exe,trickler,etc...provided AdAware doesn't take care of it!

If current version of AD-Aware_Lavasoft.nu can not get rid of this, please post back to this thread. There may be a new version of Tickler out. Received question about by e-mail today from someone who runs AdAware often, but may not have latest update.

Two good suggestions already.Adaware and Spybot search and destroy.I have them both and they work.I had Gator and Trickler previously.They are gone.(Although trickler may have evolved since than).Any removal tool needs to be updated regularly.These tools both should work.

I have the same problem as Debbie. Adaware 5.0 (Release 5.81) cleaned many files and keys. When I rebooted, AdAware found two more registry keys with "gator.com". It removed them right, but when I rebooted, those keys are created again and again.

I am not sure that these registry keys alone can do much harm, yet I do not like Gator feedling with my registry.

Also, I have noticed that the string "gator.com" appears three or four times within my system.dat file.

Spybot Search and Destroy did not help either...

It apparently fixed a lot of spyware elements still present on my HD despite AdAware. But the "gator.com" registry keys keep getting recreated at every boot.

I have managed to do it!

I needed to run msconfig (from Start>Run...) and deselect "Precision Time" from the list of automatic execution programs.

Gator.com is not there anymore!

Hope it helps.
