I have not been able to scan my computer since Nov. 7 as it keeps shutting down the computer. I cannot even complete the HouseCall scan offered by Trend Micro, it too causes my computer to shut down. I have Trend Micro internet security.

Have you tried scanning in safe mode? You can also do a house call scan in safe mode with networking if you are on a high speed connection. It won't work on dialup
