Trend Micro Ad keeps popping up on start up

November 12, 2010 at 18:58:30
Specs: Windows XP, Celeron CPU - 2.66 GHz, 504 MB RAM
I don't recall ever having used trend micro, but I get a pop up on start-up directing me to Trend to buy their new product. I don't want their product or the ad every time I start my computer. This only started up after a recent reboot. Any help in figuring out how to get this the heck off my computer will be greatly appreciated.

I'm on a Compaq FS7600 running winXP, Celeron CPU - 2.66 GHz, 504 MB RAM

HELP!!

(something of a noob, self taught and just clued in enough to know not to screw it up before asking ...lol)

I recently had this same issue. I too was not able to find any entries for Trend Micro. But, I did find one for SpySubtract. It turns out that this is what 'Trend Micro' was previously called. I deleted this from he msconfig startup and I no longer have that annoying ad popping up on me. I also deleted 'SpySubtract' product and all reg entries... Jus thought that I would pass this along.

I'll give that a try - I do have SpySubtract. Thanks for the hint!
