Folks,
I need some help in finding out the physical location of where a hotmail message was sent. I don't mean to sound like a psycho, but I have a feeling that my significant other is cheating when she goes away on business. If I could find a simple city/state information on where the hotmail message is originating from, that would be golden. I put my message header format to "advanced". Here's a copy of the header of the email (I changed her name and address to protect her). I really appreciate anyone's help in this matter. By the way, she's definitely using dial up internet access.
Here it is:

Where does she go on business? Out of state? Country? Its not considered cheating if shes out of the area code when it happens.
Mike your 2 funny..:)

Mr C - unfortunately you cannot determine anything geographically about a Hotmail account holder. As a web based email system, they can, and probably do, check this email from anywhere in the world.
"Concentrate on being a good person, and nobody else will come between you...
Unless of course, the other person is another girl, then you have had it, cuz girls know what girls like............"Could be fun though, eh?

Sorry to hear that, when there isn't any trust, it's not worth to being together. I was a victim too. I choosen to leave my love one.
below is the info I can help ya to find.

Your question is confusing. You want to know the physical location of where a Hotmail message was sent, yet you want the city/state where the message is sent from? Sorry, but those are two different things. You can get the e-mail address the message was sent to, but you will not have ANY idea where the recipient is when receiving that e-mail. Unless of course, he/she replies. In which case you have more info to work with.
btw...How did you get your wife's hotmail account password so that you could view the header of a message she sent to someone else?
You need to supply more information (details) about this supposed e-mail your wife sent.
JD, your response is very sexist, and I take offense to it.

What victim posted is the domain name registration info, not the location of the IP address. Verizon provides internet services all over the country so you can't tell anything from that. The domain name registration info is essentially useless for Mr. C's problem.
The IP address is the address of the computer that the email was sent from. So it is useless also. Now if the wife gets an email back from someone, then you *might* be able to tell something. Or you might not.
When the block of IP addresses is owned by a huge network like Verizon, UUNET or others there is no clue as to where it's located geographically. If the IP address belongs to a small local network then you might be able to tell the geographical area.
MrC, to look up an IP address, go here:

Lay off folks, this is a tech help forum not a marriage counseling forum ;)

Someone earlier said LA, but when I do a DNS lookup on 141.158.104.211, I get pool-141-158-104-211.pitt.east.verizon.net.
Looks like Pittsburg...

HiJinx - what are you using to find that info? I can't find that using arinwhois.
I'd really like to know how you found that.Thanks.

Suzi...
I used a little freeware program called NetLab95. It's probably not as detailed as TheKid's NeoTrace Pro, but it's free :). It works fine with XP and can do Finger, Whois, Time, Ping, Trace, DNS, etc.
