Hello everyone,
I had noticed my machine working sluggishly and very slow, I ran my a-v and it reported I had trojans in my documents and setting sector. My a-v could not remove them, I went to trend online to remove them, it also had problems removing them, it suggested I delete the files, which I okayed. Is this a new malware attack on our computers, firewalls cannot stop them and now a-v cannot delete them. I have not seen any that the a-v could not remove from my computer, I was wondering if others have seen these trojans and any suggestions how to keep my comp clean, I thank trend for being there and cleaning the malware and thank you in advance for your input,
frank

Okey,
You can delete the files from Linux, If you're not familiarized... I'm sorry. Also you can delete them froms DOS, make a bootdisk with bootdisk.exe, it's free.
The easiest way is download Knoppix.
For maintenance, adaware is good software, and there's a free edition. For my part, it's all
I wait this help you!!!
Mario Ruiz

Thanks for the responses Fordman and Mario, I did defrag, ran adaware and spybot, then ran ez a-v. The a-v found the trojans, but, could not delete them, as if they were access denied. This is new to me, attacking them using linux, no, I am not familiar with that procedure. I also thought going threw dos in xp was not possible. The dos in 98 and ME was a handy tool, I miss not having the dos avenue. I thank you again for your help, now as Mario suggested I will head to Knoppix and put together a bootdisk,
thanks guys,
frank

Hello Mario,
Just came from that linux site, that is for d/l the os, also the bootdisk is for 95, 98 and me. I will try google to see about a bootdisk, but don't know how that will help in deleting malware from the computer,
frank

You need to turn system restore off and restart the computer. I usually enter the safe mode during the restart and use my antivirus scan while in it. Then I restart the computer again and run one more scan, and if the system is clean I turn system restore back on. All the files in system restaore are protected, and no antivirus program can clean/repair/delete them, but virus/worm/trojan packets love to use system restore to hide in. HTH

Hello Capt,
I rarely use the safe mode, but now adays it looks like a necessary evil. This is the first time I ran into trojans that seemed to be anchored in the computer. I am sure this is not the last time I will see malware that refuse to delete. Thank you for your input Capt, as I did not go into the safe mode to erase them. Even trend online had trouble with them before they zapped them. I guess you can say, welcome to the wonderful world of the internet.

If you are going to download Knoppix, get this version. It has the BitDefender antivirus software built in. It also writes to NTFS files...

Hi Wombat,
thank you for that website, not sure how I could use a linux device to zap a trojan in windows. This is beyond my reach, I would need a little information as to how I would go about using linux to cleanse windows.
If anyone could help, I would appreciate the information,
thanks,
frank

Go for it Frank!!!
Some times, from Linux you can delete the files that you can't from M$Windows. I was in the same trouble(acces denied by trying to delete some files), but adware, spybot, etc. didn't exist. So I boot up the machine in Linux, and Linux deleted that s---(the files).
I think the today malaware is different from the past malaware. But, use everything is in your hands(Maybe safemode,restore,etc.). Do you know why?
I used to have a bad idea about ad-aware, I thought other solutions are better. But, one day I had a big trouble with trojans, malaware. The M$ registry had s--- everywhere. So I tried ad-aware, beautiful...Maybe 6 months of hard work if I work by myself. But ad-aware help me.
The software evolutions. Are you agree?
So we need to use everything to our reach!
Excuse me, my English is not so good. I'm Mexican.
Just a question, whats's the name of the trojan/malaware/virus/worm? Really it doesn't matter...
I suggest that you visit:
http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/
I'm sure that they can help you in a better way.
And specially this,http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=39953
Because maybe it's a new malaware s---.
Good Luck.
Mario Ruiz.

I can't tell you right off hand Frank, but I do know that when you boot up to Knoppix there are some help files already on the desktop. So have a quick peruse of these before you get started. Hope this helps.

Thanks again Mario and Wombat,
I will go through the info of the linux pgm and see if there are some helpful procedures in there. Mario your english is good enough as you get your message across. The more I hear about linux, the more this os sounds like the system of the future. The so-called experts say the reason why the hackers pick on windows is because it's the most popular. I say there are many holes in there system and maybe that is why they pick on windows. This website has been a god sent for me as all the problems I have come across, I have been helped by great people such as Mario, Capt and Wombat, the help I get here is better than the tech support from my isp and computer maker, I appreciate the help and information you have given me,
frank

Thanks to God anyway!!!
You can find help anywhere!!!
Anything else?!!!
Yeah!!! we can gave free help 'coz
someone sometime gave us too...Just think about it!!!
The better of the life is free!!!
OpenSource is better 'coz there are millions of persons that like this site (exellent) are open to all kind of comments. Well, there are a lot of reasons... But, choose your own.
When you have time and the divine inspiration you can navegate at:
-----) www.debian.orgIt's an exellent site to learn about using, installing, and hacking with Linux. It's also a good amateur guide. But it's recomendable that you star with Knoppix(it's based on Debian distribution).
Good bye!
Mario Ruiz
Come to me all who you are borried and wasted, and I shall give you rest and peace.JesusChrist.

ALot of trojans can bypass virus scanners.Even the easiest of techniques work.Download BullGuard.I had about 10 trojans I was working on to see if techniques would get them passed virus scanner and how to fix them,BullGuard deleted them all pretty easy.If your using the viruses in the processes it might be a bit harder to delete them but it gets the job done.
