I started my computer a few days ago, and was unable to log onto the internet. I thus ran a full system scan. I left the computer and came back 3 hours later only to find it had been stuck on a temp file under the name 1755.tmp. I investagated the file only to find it was -99999... kb large, while other files inside the tmp file were 4,000,000,000kb. This and the fact that some of the files were written 8/02/24 leads me to belive this is a virus. When i try and delete the file it says it is non existant. When i run system scan it scans about 2 million files untill it says it has run out of memory. There are about 20 sub folders in the tmp. and about 20 more under such names like __#@#_#*$&)$*__!. Since i am unable to connect to the internet on that computer i cannot use live update or an online scan. Any ideas?????

http://www.toniarts.com/ecleane.htm <----- go here & use EasyCleaner free & will only delete un nessasary files like *.tmp .bak etc... also does a pretty good job cleanin registry, & it fits on a floppy disk. Now this i dont believe is your total problem, it does sound like some kind of virus, but this will git rid of a bunch of garbage you dont need thus speeding up & giving you less areas to scan & look for actual culprit. After cleaning up POST back the running tasks you have at fresh bootup, (ctrl alt delete at same time once will bring up running tasks) this will probably help greatly in finding problem. hope this helps good luck A2Z
