Timeunending, I'm the one who tried to help you with your vanished hard drives (in the BIOS virus, known fixes?) message you sent, but you forgot about the message and didn't see that I sent you another reply, so here it is. I sent it to the original message board, with little modification.

"As far as I know, a virus isn't supposed to cause such problems. I'm not sure of that, tough.
It could be your power supply that fried your HDs or it could be a shock they recieved.

Anyway, for a very LAST ressort, you can try buying two 40 GB HDs (or any HD that uses the NTFS file system. It is very important that they use the same file system or it may not work, I'm not sure) and open these HDs and trade the disks between them. It could screw your data, but at this state it is either this or nothing. Start with one HD in case it doesn't work."
