Looks more like your video card is screwed up. Does it recur after a reboot?

I've tried various virus checkers & online scans and they don't find anything. My computer's useable if I uninstall my graphics card, then just use the windows default drivers, but if i try to install any nvidia drivers, i just get a blank screen after booting up.

Are you running an nvidia fx care requiring a power plug. If so this problem can be caused by

1) an underpowered power supply.
2) cables passing too close to fans, hard drives, or other motors that can cuase magnetic fields.
3) cables passing too clost to the main board.
4) video power being pulled off the same cord as CD or hard drives.

No mate, and I've had the card a few years so don't really think that's the problem. I think it's broken. Like I said I've scanned for virus's and the only reason I can use the computer at all is because I've uninstalled the graphics drivers. If I install them again I just get a blank screen after booting up.

The only other thing I thought it might be is that a virus has corrupted a file used in/by the graphics card?? But I changed the hard drive over and it's still the same, confirming (I think) that it can't be a virus, and is the graphics card.
