There is a red X on my C Drive.

Hello I am ne to this forum (seems like a very smart group of people) I was wonering if somone could help me with my computer. I placed a cd in my drive and hen it did not come up I went onto My Computer only to find that my C drive has a big red X as the icon. Can someone please explain to me what this is?

The post you are referring to is a registry tweak to restore the default icon for C drive. It may fix the icon error momentarily but it doesn't address the what the root of the problem might possibly be.
You have offered up a band-aid solution.
Vundo variants are known to change the icon for c drive to a big red X, the default install location for the operating system.
The tweak really needs to be applied after any malware has been removed.
Sylentsniper91 have you run any antivirus or anti-spyware scans? If so did they return any positives for malware?
