Hi

Just wanted to thank everyone that helps assist the people like me with their computer problems. I am not an expert so that is why I turn to you all.

My computer started slowing down so bad ( its only 8 months that i have had it ) it was taking forever to even load a webpage (I have DSL)and getting the programs to open from desktop. Well reading and taking the advice from you I downloaded spybot search & destroy & Adaware.. I ran Spybot S & D first then Adaware... To my shock it removed over 6000 items on my computer that i didnt even know existed. Now I scan both daily...... Its scary knowing that many things are in your files and you are not even aware of it.... Thanks to everyone that has recommended these 2 programs .... My computer is running 100% faster now. Thanks and keep up the good work...

It's a learning experience for us all. That's why we do it.

6000, that has to challenge most records. The most I have ever seen is 986 although it would have probably been more if I was able to update it.

Try running the scans in safe mode. Sometimes the nasties like to hide, most of them can't run in safe mode. Then you should only need to run the scans about once a week. Right after you check for updates (they tend to be weekly).

Have you discovered the immunise feature in spybot s&d yet?

Hi Goot

You might want to think about installing SpywareBlaster as well as it stops spyware installing itself
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also try microsoft antispyware I think Bills onto a winner with this one, as I've seen it find things that others have missed.

If any advice helps, please post back as it might help others.
