OS: Windows XP Home + Service
CPU/Ram: Intel Pentium 4-2.8 Ghz/5
Model/Manufacturer: Dell Dimension 3000

My scheduled tasks are not running, specifically my NIS 2007-antivirus scan. I have it password protected, and set up correctly. My registry cleaner is getting stuck when scheduled. All scans work correctly when I start them manually. Also, spyware, auto protect and phishing filters are being turned off somehow. Any suggestions?

I can't comment on your actual question - if they are set up right and the task scheduler is activated they should normally run.

Including a registry cleaner seems odd because they normally require a human response to agree to which entries to delete. If you let them "delete all" then this is risky because I have many instances on record where valid entries have been removed. With some of them the backup restore is unsafe too (long story).

Your last sentence is a bit worrying so I can see why you think this might be a security issue. You might care to download, install and update this freebie while you are waiting:
