taskmon.exe malware?

I did a malware scan with A-Squared and it came up with 2 malware files 1 was a backup file and 1 was taskmon.exe C:\windows. The scan said this is a worm.win32.bagle.n so I deleted it. Does this mean that my taskmom.exe won't work?

C:\windows\taskmon.exe is a legitimate Windows file, so no, if it's deleted it won't run.
Many consider it unecessary as it monitors file usage in order to optimize the defrag process (or something like that) - which may or may not be worth the effort and resources. You can shut it off with msconfig.
If you wish you can restore it from your CD using SFC

Using msconfig it still shows up in the list and is checked to start at startup. But if I run a search for taskmon.exe it does not find it.Thanks for your time.

Seems a little odd then - you'd think an error would pop up at least. As mentioned, by and large it's considered an unnecessary process. There are malware files that use the name but launch from a folder other than Windows

I re-installed taskmon.exe from the CAB files on the computer. Now when I run A-sqared again it detects it as malware again.

Sounds like it could be a false positive - those aren't that uncommon and are usually corrected by the next update.
You could maybe try an online scan to be sure or else consider dispensing with the file and forget about it, I suppose.
