I have acquired a virus on my computer. What happens is my desktop has a bunch of files with an extension t, for instance, cksljcs.t, and the icons will be faded. When I delete them, they just come back (under different names). They also run processes in the background with similar names. i first noticed problems with this when it would cause my internet not to work. When i tried to use winsockxpfix.exe, it would not load up, it would just sit there. It would say the process of winsockxpfix was running, but it would never show up on screen. this virus also seems to prevent adaware from running, and I also can't seem to install norton antivirus. Upon looking for files with a .t extension (referred to as a "T FILE") there were close to 10,000 of them. I am not sure whether these are legitimate files or just duplicates of the virus. This type of stuff started happening shortly after I deleted Avast! anti-virus program, and I'm not sure if these are related. Any suggestions or help would be really great. thanks.

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified. Choose your usual account. Once in Safe Mode, open the "SmitfraudFix" folder again and double-click "smitfraudfix.cmd" Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files. You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing " Y " and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. The tool will now check if "wininet.dll " is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing "Y" and press "Enter". I've got the same virus, i tried the smithfraudfix and it just doesn't work in safe mode. In the normal mode it does work but it then says access denied. i tried to delete it from the regesitry but it comes back. I think this is a new strain of dwwin and the drwtsn viruses. Its so new that I can't even find any information about it. I;ve tried several antivirus s/w but they just skip by them. I need help as it's also infected my backup up external usb hardrive which contains stuff I don't have any other copies of. thanks
