I just went thru hell with a 'virus protector' program that was sneaked in on another virus program I downloaded. In a weak moment that I didn't run my reg virus prog to check the dwnld, here is this something 2008 program that totally infiltrated my system. Wanting a newer PC anyway, I traded for this machine. My question, is there any way to lock down sys restore to where only you can activate and use it? Malware seems to go in and shut it down first so you can't back up a day or so. There ought to be a prog out there that keeps any and everybody out there from turning off your sys restore.....Creekstar

Just an old man fiddling on a computer.

Actually there is an excellant program that will REPLACE your "system restore".

The program will either completely rewrite your harddrive to match what you had yesterday, last week or even a month ago! It can even restore files deleted.

The program is called "GoBack". Originally the program was created by Roxio. It appears Norton bought the program from Roxio.

I have been using the program since 1990 and find it's far superior to "system restore".

That software is available from Symantec as part of Norton SystemWorks Premiere and Standard Edition.
