When doing a manual LiveUpdate today I ran into problems. It seems Symantec came out with a new LiveUpdate version that won't get updated by using the LiveUpdate. Because of that, while running LiveUpdate it said my Common Client files needed to be updated. Don't do it! It will corrupt your LiveUpdate files! Luckily I made a restore point to bring it back to the way it was before this happened.
Instead, go to Symantec's website and use their Automatic Support Assistant. From there it will tell you how to update the LiveUpdate to the newer version. After you download and run program you will see no Common Client files needing updating when you run LiveUpdate. Only the usual stuff, virus definitions, firewall updates.
Does Symantec have a person you can talk to live on your computer? You would think so but all I've come across is a form to fill out. It must be buried somewhere in cyberspace. Will they ever fix their install/uninstall, Redirector problems? I doubt it. They probably don't think there is a problem.
