4 Aug 04 Hi all, I've upgraded ME to XP, now symantec liveupdate says it cannot retrieve the catalogue of product and component updates. ME had no trouble doing this on startup auto using Nortons system works 2003 pro right up to the change over yesterday. I've tried reinstalling, deleting liveupdate files, upgrading to NAV 2004, set all internet options to allow normal access to websites. The target seems to Symantecs tech site, I've tried to get into it from all directions. A link to LUSETUP worked to download direct but didn't load the website for access. I removed all Nortons and loaded AVG which found Trojan horse IRC/BackDoor.SdBoT.22 -and isolated it, but thats all. SNAFU. Ideas anyone? thanks a lot if you can!

Did you do a clean installation of XO, or did you update from ME(bad move if you did)? Do you have liveupdate 2.0 installed(control panel>add/remove programs)? Do you have liveupdate set to the interactive or express mode(control panel>liveupdate icon)? Is it NAV you are installing or Systemworks? Have you downloaded and used Symantec's removal tools, ie. rnav2003, rnis, symclean to remove all traces of their programs to allow a new installation?
