Symantec Antivirus 9.0 Autoprotect

I have just installed Symantec Antivirus 9.0, and autoprotect is failing to load. I have checked all the required services are running, and I have run liveupdate to check for updates. Anybody know what could be causing this?

am pretty sure its an infected file virus keeping the service from installing..
try to download avg it should load up
