I want to download any one of them...Please tell me whiich is the
best amont these , will not consume my system resoures ,&
sent me a signal that soem one is entering in my PC.
Iam using win98.1---sygate.
2---Kerio
3----Zone Alarm.Thanks,
gardenair
.

My personal preference would be Kerio or the free Tiny Personal Firewall. Either one of these will not slow you down nor use a lot of resources. Good Luck :-)Cat

First choice for you Kerio, then Sygate and finally Zone Alarm. Kerio is not quite as easy to use as Sygate. The TINY firewall, that CAT recommends is Kerio. TINY changed its company direction and ploicy, and many of the developers started Kerio. It is easier to obtain customer support for Kerio, as the free TINY firewall is no longer supported by the TINY Co. There are forums for all of these products to assit you in setting them up and resolving any problems. Take care and all the best!

Sygate free one, its really easy to work with, does not slow surfing and lets you control what you want to allow or disallow, I tried Kerio seem to be good but hard for me to configure, and use to use Zone Alarm (the Free one) and had conflicts.

I definitely agree for SYGATE, I like the interface with the three windows showing in real time the internet flux and the control immediately of the detection of any attempts via internet by searching identification of the IP's, option which is not avalaible on Freeware Zone Alarm

My pick is ZoneAlarm 3
i had tiny personal firewall but it stopped working on my windows xp machine
on win 98 tiny and zonealarm are good

I personally think you should spend some time researching the reviews and evaluations of firewalls in general.Everyone on this forum will have their personal favorites and dislikes; And the question would be is that information based upon in-depth knowledge of the software or biased knowledge not founded on fact, because of non-expertise of the subject matter. I am not knocking anyone here on and individual basis, but personal preference plays a large part of the input you have received. See the site below which is a consumers review and than make a decision based upon all relevant information for positives and negatives to each type.
