im having probs with sygate firewall. Za used to notify me of attacks and port scans, why doesnt sygate? the only indication is the log, which at that point is only useful for a "whois" lookup. Not helpful at prevention.
Is there a way i can configure sygate to notify me of such attacks or scans? If not then back to Za i go. i only switched 'cause it was a smaller program. If it cant do what Za did, whats the point? I did a S.O.S test on sygates web page and the test should of come up as a port scan. It never did. Za had some sort of pop up box that told you when such actions occured. Can sygate do that or do i just need to get rid of it? Thanks.

I do not understand "prevention". If you have Sygate configured so that all the ports blocked, what is there to prevent. I use Zone Alarm and I have it configured to just do its job and not bother me with all the reports about what it is detecting. There are literally hundreds on some days. As long as I am safe is all I care about.

Sygate DOES warn you.When a "flashing/blinking" light emits from between the arrows of the Sygate icon in your system tray,that is your notification.Double-click on that icon at said time,and it will take you directly to the security log.
For more text/illustrated info on this,with all the possible combinations of "notification",have a look at this great Sygate help site;
