Who's your ISP? I may be wrong here and someone may corect me but, for example, I have AT&T/Bellsouth as my ISP. AT&T has its own firewall on its servers and all my traffic routes through that.

I have Sygate firewall on one of my computers but if I go online and run a firewall test/ port scanner .... It see's my ISP's firewall and not Sygates. The results are always the same with an online test no-matter if I have Sygate enabled or not. I always fail the ICMP ping test because of AT&T's firewall.

So, depending on who your ISP is and how you are set within their system. You may not be scanning you computer.

Another thing you may want to think about. You may need to go into your router/modem and set it not to respond to an ICMP ping. One of my older modems from the old Bellsouth is pingable and doesnt have the commands to turn off reply ping. At one time, the way Bellsouth was set up. Your computer had to ping reply for your internet service.

I dont think they require it now and their newer DSL modems and routers have a setting within the modem/router itself to disable ICMP reply.

Of course I could be all wrong and if so I hope someone will correct me.
