hi ..people..all great?
i donīt know too much of firewalls..( honestly i donīt know nothing), but i install sygate , and im just tryin it, just got one dought, .. i know that sygate will ask for everytime i start a new program that needs to conect to the net, ..and firewall is asking me if explorer.exe can acess the net, is it normal? should i give permission? ( donīt take me wrongh if im doing a stupid question, like i said im just starting), the icon is not the famous e of the browser .. is the icon of the {my computer}...

I have Sygate 5.0 free firewall.It is my preferred free firewall program.It's a great idea to read up on links like the one norm posted so that you get a good idea of what the programs are that ask for internet connection.Some are necessary,some are not.Another good tool for testing your firewall and it's set-up is shields up(it's on the link that norm posted).Regards,JB

its me again, sorry,,
and thereīs another winXP files that maybe we should not give acess, for example that ones that are the first to ask for acess when we start using a firewall ( Llke Generic Host Proc...)?

Response 16 gets to the heart of the matter and a cure for same. A regedit fix to seperate the IE explorer process from the windows explorer process.
Setting IE to browse in a new process ( ie; seperate from Window's explorer.exe) clears up the firewall conundrum and in most cases smoothes out other windows functions too.
