Subject: svchost 16 strange ports open?OS: Windows XP SP2CPU/Ram: AMD Sempron / 1.5 gModel/Manufacturer: Compaq Presarion SR1200NX |
Comment: In the last few days my DSL connection speed has considerably slowed down. I find myself repairning my connection often. I have noticed 16 different UDP ports open that never were before. Ports like 55237, 24523 and such. They all say svchost. Any suggestions as to what this might be. Thanks in advance My mother always said there were no stupid questions, only really stupid people – It took me a long time to figure out she was talking about me.

Reply: (edit)Thanks XpUser. Does it matter that I disabled all those ports in the network properties/settings? Should I turn them back on to use that tool? Reply: (edit)I won't play Russian roulette with genuine svchost processes because doing so will cause Windows to behave too unpredictible. i_XpUser
