Ocassionally I receive an email in Outlook Express with no "To address" or "Subject". It is a normal 1KB in size and has no attachment. In Properties it gives little information except a Sender/Return Path email address. No text is shown.
When it is opened a box pops up saying:
There was an error opening this message.
There is not enough memory.Normally my email works fine.
Running my collection of malware/trojan and AV progs afterwards reveals nothing.
Yep, I know I shouldn't open it but I was fiddling around with SPAM filtering and wanted to know what it was.
Does this ring any bells with anyone, I wasn't able to find anything in Google. My main interest is whether it is some nasty or other that someone on this board knows about.
Thanks
Derek

Hello Derek,
Don't worry about it,
Blank email are generated sometimes by autorobots web sites which noticed your email address when visiting them.
Normally if there was something hidden in, you will be adviced with the mention about a pic or anything else into the contents of the mail....
The best would be you install a firewall in your computer to protect it against any attempts and stealth your connexion from the net. Do you have one already ? if not here is an excellent one freeware: Sygate
http://smb.sygate.com/buy/download_buy.htm
download it and install

Thanks Imp, you've explained it well.
Yep, I'm all buttoned up, use Kerio (a bit more fiddling than Sygate but very neat) and AVG AV.
To complete the paranoia I've Ad-Aware, SpyBot, CWShredder, Spyware Blaster, SwatIT, HiJack This.
I really must stop worrying LOL.
Derek
