I was hijacked by surferbar. I tried following the directions previous posts for removing it. I couldnt find winsrv32.dll when i press ctl+ alt+ del and so couldnt stop it running. I also wasnt sure what was meant by do DLL show. I didnt find anything like drg.exe on my c drive so I didnt remove that. I did remove drg32.dll or some such thing from my c drive program files and that seemed to stop suferbar from popping up. However, surferbar is still an option for a toolbar when I go to view. I am extremely computer illiterate. can someone give me detailed instructions to follow for removal in windows ME? Also, since surferbar hijacked me, it takes 10 min (i have a dsl modem) to start up IE. I can go to Yahoo and other search engines, but cannot search on them. a 404 not found message usually occurs. What is happening here and how do i fix it? I would really appreciate any help and maybe ill learn something in the process. Anyone feel free to email me with help at liljynx@comcast.net. Hi Tara, Do a find files for C:\Windows\Help\Hosts file and C:\Bdtmp folder delete them if found. Run Hijack again and check the following items, close any open browser windows and click 'fix checked'. All 01- Hosts entries if a search didn't locate C:\Windows\Help\Hosts.
