my boss complained about his slow computer so i did an online scan & ad aware scan and found out the he has several troj_krepper viruses. his homepage is changed to "http://super-spider.com/hp.htm?id=632"

i did the cwshredder scan and fixed it. restarted and when i open IE homepage ok but by the time i clicked on the home icon it goes to teh super-spider s**t again.

my boss' pc runs on windows 98.

i searched on the registry and found this 2 values which has the super-spider address

hkey user>software>microsoft>internet explorer>main>
HPDed "http://super-spider.com/hp.htm?id=632"
SPDed "http://super-spider.com/hp.htm?id=632"

when i deleted them it went to a fatal error and i restarted. after restart it was there again..

am really pissed.

Manual removal instructions http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/s/super-spider.asp

If you still cannot remove it, then d/load HJT from http://radiosplace.com/ saving it to somewhere permanent like My Documents.

Scan with it and post the resulting log back here.

Inp. :)

hi kimchie,
lets try this:
before we go into the registry lets do a clean up so lets go to safe mode:
lets clean out temp internet files, and make sure you put a check in the offline content,
your temp files, your history, and your cookies folder, then clean your recycle bin.
next:
while in safe mode, go to the registry, go to hotkey local machine, and make your way to the run services.
check them all out and see if you can find a file: control.exe
if found delete the value.
then do the same for the other keys that you found:
hkey user>software>microsoft>internet explorer>main>
HPDed "http://super-spider.com/hp.htm?id=632"
SPDed "http://super-spider.com/hp.htm?id=632"
get out of the registry.

next we have to delete the control.exe process so using control alt delete find the control.exe file in the list and end task.

next do a search for these files:
control.exe
control.exe-3b93e1ba.pf
precontrol.exe-27c36166.pf
if found delete delete these files from your windows and or systems directory.

reboot into regular mode.
when in regular mode:
do a find file and see if you can find any of these files, if so delete.
all the best,
murve
