Supernaturally high ping

I'm currently wondering if my PC has a virus or something that's messing with my internet connection. I wasn't really sure which of the 2 categories to put this in.

Ever since I downloaded something 3rd-party for a video game (a legal one shown on their official website) my internet has been acting really chaotic. I have satellite internet, which has always sucked, but always had 1000-2000 ping all the time.

Ever since I downloaded that and only used it for about 10 mins before declaring I didn't like it and uninstalled; I been getting moments where my ping has spiked up to 10,000-60,000 suddenly and keeps climbing rapidly till about 100,000 ping and I'm unable to do anything for about 10-20 mins till it starts dropping.

Sometimes it skyrockets to 200,000 to even 800,000 for long periods of time. It has never done this before and ISP support is completely useless and doesn't know anything.

Any reason why you are reluctant to identify what you downloaded and from what site? Sometimes such information help accelerate the solutions.

It was a third-party viewer for Second Life called Emerald. Never had extreme ping spikes before till after I used it. I don't know if its a coincidence or not, but something is wrong.
