My ZoneAlarm notified me that "?ÿÿÿŒôXORO@" wanted internet access. Anytime I don't know a program or application, I always deny access and ask questions later. I've done scans for viruses, trojans, and spyware with nothing showing up.
At one point, ZoneAlarm showed it as "active" thus running. I could not find it in my task manager. ZoneAlarm has the file size as 0kb! All systems seem normal and it occurs to me that one who might want to do evil, would mask a trojan with a name like Win32.exe and not ?ÿÿÿŒôXORO@.
Anyone had experience with ?ÿÿÿŒôXORO@ or know what it might be?
Thanks,
BillC

Hello BillC,
Apparently you have something for sure trying to connect to a mailbox somewhere...
the name you mention, doesn't exist anywhere, I would suggest you download two differents programs to scan your register into your computer:
1) Trojan Remover , this program is a freeware for one month, then a shareware you can use with a license. Very performant to dectect around 7000 differents trojan's betrayal virus, the program can resolve any attempt in your computer if the signature is reconized in the database which need a minimum of one update to download each week.
Trojan Remover at: http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/details.html
2)Adaware, this program freeware scan your computer for cookie's spywares and other registred key's which corrupte your computer as long as they take a lot of memory Ram.
Adaware also need a permanent update to perform correctly, this is a very famous program very well known by users in internet.
AdAware 6.0 at: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
After using thoses two programs, you will know exactly what's going on in your computer

hi billC,
its a virused file, not sure what it is, but also could be a trojan if it wants to connect to the internet.
go to www.thepublicworks.com security section and link to pcflank, there do a trojan and port scan. if found go to wilders.org and download a free 30 day trial of Trojan Hunter and scan your machine. it should pick up the nasty and delete it from your registry and windows directory. in the future you should also link to Regprot and download a free registry monitor (regprot) and from Sysinternals a free port and process monitor.
hope this helps,
murve

Thank you both for your suggestions. I did run antitrojan, antivirus, and spyware scans with nothing unusal found. I also posted on the ZoneAlarm forum and was told it is a know process issue between ZA and antivirus programs and specificly the one I use.
Thanks again,
BillC
