Strange HTML code in e-mail

I had the following code appear in my e-mail the other day (and please note I'll use curly braces instead of the angled brackets normally used in HTML):

{IFRAME src="cid:Tk52374399F" width=0 height=0}{/IFRAME}

Now I know that will produce a frame that does not actually appear, but what will the stuff in quotes do? I'm not familiar with a cid as a source.

Any help is appreciated!
